Adaptive technologies are technologies that have changed or evolved so that it is beneficial to students with disabilities. These technologies are put in place so that all students, no matter the disability can have a fair chance of learning the same material as students who don't have disabilities. Personally, I do not know anyone who has used these technologies, but I know that there are many adaptive technologies out there that truly benefit others.
Some teachers or even students may face challenges within the classroom with adaptive technologies. To other students, these devices or technologies may be distracting within the classroom. Unrelated to adaptive technologies in the classroom, but an example is closed captions on TV shows or movies. I don't like watching movies with closed captions because I read the captions and don't pay attention to the actual movie, even though I can hear perfectly. Also, technology isn't perfect. Things break and the student nor the teacher might know how to fix it. If students rely on these devices too much, they might not remember how to function without them.
